Block Websites
1] Browse C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
2] Find the file named "HOSTS"
3] Open it in notepad
4] Under "127.0.0.1 localhost"
Add 127.0.0.2 www.orkut.com , and that site will no longer be accesable.
5] Done!
example :127.0.0.1 localhost127.0.0.2 www.orkut.com- www.orkut.com is now unaccessable
For every site after that you want to add, just add "1" to the last number in the internal ip (127.0.0.2) and then the addy like before.
IE:127.0.0.3 http://www.yahoo.com/
127.0.0.4 http://www.msn.com/
127.0.0.5 http://www.google.com/
This also works with banner sites, just find the host name of the server with the banners and do the same thing;
How to boot Windows in Safe Mode
If any thing simple errors (forexample any blue screen
erors) that is appropreate way to fix the problem; boot the windows in safe
mode. and return to user mode.Thats immportant a PC user must know how to
boot the PC in safe mode.
following tips may help ful to know.
*Turn the computer on or Restart the computer
*Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Boot Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
*Ensure that the Safe mode option is selected (the
top option)
Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
*When you are finished with troubleshooting, close
all programs and restart the computer as you normally would.

Corrupted or Missing \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG
If you get the error:
Windows could not start because the following files is missing or corrupt
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM or \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SOFTWARE
Insert and boot from your WindowsXP CD.
At the first R=Repair option, press the R key
Press the number that corresponds to the correct location for the installation
of Windows you want to repair.
Typically this will be #1
Enter in the administrator password when requested
cd \windows\system32\config
Depending on which section was corrupted:
ren software software.bad or ren system system.bad
Depending on which section was corrupted
copy \windows\repair\system
copy \windows\repair\software
Take out the CD ROM and type exit
